season 1

When the gang is handing out fliers to go to iCarly to everyone in their school, a rude girl says that their web show must be lame since there is no review of it on Nevelocity.com. Carly schedules a review with the 11-year-old web critic Nevel Papperman (Reed Alexander), who runs Nevelocity. When Carly refuses to kiss him, she smears tapenade on his face and he promises that she will rue the day, risking a bad review for the webcast.

On Halloween, Carly, Freddie and Sam do a special webcast in apartment 13B, a supposedly haunted apartment. Numerous spooky things happen: lights fail, "blood" appears, objects fall and break, and the apartment owners return early. The apartment is later known to be an old apartment as the iCarly crew find that the doorman, Lewbert, had purposely given them wrong information. The owners give explanations of the happenings, and iCarly continues. Meanwhile, Spencer is making a giant jack-o-lantern and forgets to buy candy for trick-or-treaters. When he gives them ridiculous items such as eggs and power cords, they storm into the room, causing Spencer to hide in his monstrous jack-o-lantern. They roll him out to the hallway and out to the street.

season 2

In the first iCarly movie, the team, along with Spencer and Mrs. Benson, go to Japan when iCarly is nominated for the iWeb Awards. After an intensely dangerous ride, they are all sabotaged by two competing web show nominees: Kyoko (Ally Maki) and Yuki (Harry Shum Jr.). Their cousins wrap Spencer and Mrs. Benson in seaweed inside a massage room and lock the door. Spencer manages to get out of the seaweed, accidentally exposing his nudity to Mrs. Benson by showing he is special, and has to cover himself up with a towel telling her not to look and she does the same. Meanwhile Kyoko and Yuki ditch the trio in the middle of nowhere and flee. Carly, Sam and Freddie must return to Spencer and Mrs. Benson in time for the iWeb Awards.

season 3

After spitting in her crush's eye, Carly becomes humiliated and tries to find a new date for a popular school dance. Sam feels for Carly's frustration, and hatches a plan to get her a date. During the webshow, Sam handcuffs Carly to a chair and duct-tapes her mouth shut while asking boys from the Seattle area to apply for Carly's date. When the gang is overwhelmed by the number of boys who show up at the meeting place (Groovy Smoothies), they set up a speed-dating session. Carly then tells Sam that she must ask Gibby to go to the dance if Carly had to go with a random iCarly fanboy. When Sam goes to invite Gibby to the dance, he surprisingly turns her down. A very puzzled Sam discovers Gibby has a girlfriend, Tasha. When Carly's pick, Austin, keeps interrupting her conversations, she finally screams "SHUT UP!" at him and then tells him to "Get out of here!" The episode ends when Sam returns to the Groovy Smoothie and sees Carly and Freddie dancing a slow dance. Upon seeing this, she silently leaves . Meanwhile, Spencer tries to exercise daily with the help of a mobile phone application.

season 4

Starting from this season onwards, Gibby begins to hang out more often with Carly, Sam and Freddie than in the past three seasons.

In November of this season, the iCarly crew accidentally starts a fan war at WebiCon over who should date, Carly and Freddie (Creddie), or Sam and Freddie (Seddie). Despite the three confirming that none of them are dating, the fan war still seemingly remains unresolved. However, five months later, the three complete their two month search for an intern for iCarly, at which point Sam—much to Carly's and Freddie's confusion and suspiciousness—begins hanging out with Freddie and Brad, the new intern, every time she gets the chance to. When Freddie tests his selfmade "MoodFace" app on Sam, it confirms that she's actually in love. Thinking that Sam still hates Freddie, he and Carly misunderstand the results, believing that Sam is in love with Brad, and Carly takes great steps into proving this. Sam still tries to convince her that she is not in love with him though. Freddie later finds Sam in the school yard and gives her a heart-to-heart talk about opening up and taking a risk when it comes to romantic feelings, not realizing that he is actually referring to himself. In the middle of the talk, Sam grabs Freddie and kisses him passionately, revealing that in fact he is the one she is in love with, as a shocked Carly watches through the window.

Season 5

Gibby tries to break up Sam and Freddie, as Sam now uses him as a target for her violent tendences. He recruits Carly, who is unsure about whose side to take (even after Sam and Freddie fail to attend an iCarly shoot, leaving her to and Gibby to run the show single-handedly). He also recruits Mrs. Benson, by telling her that her son is dating Sam. Meanwhile, Freddie's application to "N.E.R.D. Camp" is rejected, which, unknown to him, Sam trashed the application. When Freddie finds out, he threatens to dump Sam. Carly, finally coming down on her Friends' side, helps smooth out the argument, and the two stay together while a repentant Gibby sings a love song.

Meanwhile, Freddie gets Spencer to lie to Mrs. Benson in order to cover his relationship with Sam. Spencer, tired of lying, finds himself attempting to open a bakery from the Shays' loft in order to make his lie the truth.

Carly convinces Sam and Freddie to try each other's hobbies. Freddie takes Sam to his train engineer club much to her dismay. On the other hand, Sam takes Freddie to jail with her to visit her Uncle Carmine and Cousin Chaz. Meanwhile, Spencer's past babysitter arrives and starts to treat him like a 4 year old. Because of this Carly gives the two a talk about if they like each other they should act like it. Sam and Freddie overhear and take Carly's advice. While in the elevator they admit that they love each other but end up breaking up (and deciding to re-break up at 12 since it was only 10:30).
